Acceptable Use Policy

This policy applies to every part of Motifuse: the free public tools, the blog and guides, customer accounts, workspaces, Reconova, DocForge, SpecTrace, private custom tools, and any API surface. It applies whether you are signed in or not, and whether you are paying or not.

Ordinary, lawful, productive work — the sort the tools were built for:

• Formatting, validating, converting, comparing, and debugging your own code, data, files, and documents.
• Using calculators and converters for estimates, planning, and learning.
• Producing documents you are authorised to produce — letters, certificates, invoices, notices, reports.
• Preparing, cleaning, and deduplicating business data you control.
• Reviewing changes between document versions you are entitled to hold.
• Accessibility testing, and security research conducted through the process on the Security page.
• Learning from the guides, and sharing links to tools you found useful.

Do not use Motifuse to:

• Break the law, or help anyone else break it.
• Commit fraud, phishing, impersonation, harassment, extortion, or deception of any kind.
• Produce or distribute material relating to child sexual abuse, human exploitation, or terrorism. Where the law requires it, we report such activity to the authorities.
• Create documents, letters, or certificates that misrepresent qualifications, employment, identity, or authority — including using AI features to fabricate credentials or deceive an employer or institution.
• Facilitate serious physical harm, or evade sanctions or export controls.

• Do not attempt to access accounts, workspaces, data, or infrastructure that is not yours.
• Do not probe, scan, or test Motifuse security without permission. Report what you find through the process on the Security page instead — good-faith research within those boundaries is welcome.
• Do not upload or distribute malware, exploit code, or payloads intended to compromise systems or users.
• Do not attempt to extract credentials, session tokens, API keys, or another customer's data.
• Do not reverse-engineer the service in order to circumvent its access controls.

• Do not bypass, or attempt to bypass, rate limits, plan quotas, entitlement checks, consent controls, or administrative protections.
• Do not create multiple accounts to obtain more free capacity than a plan allows.
• Do not run denial-of-service activity, or automation that degrades availability for other users.
• Do not scrape at abusive scale, or automate the tools in ways the interface is not designed for.
• Do not share workspace access beyond what your plan permits, or resell access without written permission.
• Do not dispute legitimate charges in bad faith, or abuse refund or chargeback processes.

Fair use applies to every plan. Where usage degrades the service for others, we may throttle it before taking any stronger action.

The premium products exist to process business data, and that capability carries an obligation. Do not upload, clean, generate from, or compare data you are not authorised to handle — including personal data obtained without a lawful basis, scraped contact lists, material under someone else’s confidentiality obligation, or content gathered through unlawful surveillance.

If you are unsure whether a dataset is yours to process, resolve that before uploading it, not after.

Advertising on eligible public pages is what keeps the free tools free, and interfering with it puts that at risk for everyone.

• Do not click ads on Motifuse to generate revenue, and do not encourage or incentivise others to do so.
• Do not generate automated, incentivised, or fraudulent ad impressions or interactions.
• Do not use Motifuse tools to commit ad fraud elsewhere or to breach another platform's rules.

Enforcement is proportionate to what happened and whether it is repeated. We would rather warn than suspend, and rather suspend than terminate.

Suspected unlawful activity may be acted on without prior warning. Where an account is terminated, retention windows in the Privacy Policy govern what happens to stored data.
