Questions
Pricing, privacy & limits
SpecTrace is explicit about where documents are processed, what each plan enforces, and what has not been built.
- What does SpecTrace actually compare?
- Two versions of the same document. It extracts the text and structure of each, aligns them section by section, and reports what changed — separating meaningful edits from formatting noise like re-flowed paragraphs or changed fonts.
- Is my document uploaded?
- Yes. SpecTrace processes documents on Motifuse servers, not in your browser — that is how OCR, large-file extraction, and background comparison work. Files are stored privately, scanned for malware before anything reads them, and deleted when their retention period ends.
- Do I need an account?
- Not to start. You can create a project, upload two versions, and review the findings straight away. Work started this way lives in that one browser and is deleted after 7 days — creating a free account keeps it, and everything you have already done moves across with you.
- What is a comparison?
- One run between two document versions. Re-opening a saved comparison or re-reading its findings does not consume another; only producing a new comparison does.
- What happens when I hit a limit?
- The action is refused with the limit and your current usage stated plainly, before any work starts. Nothing is silently truncated, and no partial comparison is billed against your allowance.
- Do you offer Business or Enterprise plans?
- Yes, by request. Business is scoped with our team rather than purchased through checkout. Enterprise is customised around how your organisation reviews documents, including its security, retention, rollout, and workflow requirements. Features such as shared projects, organisation roles, and enterprise SSO are assessed during that process rather than promised as standard self-service capabilities.
- Can I cancel?
- Yes, from your workspace. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing cycle, and nothing is deleted early.
