Your STAR story appears here

Describe a scenario and we'll structure it into Situation, Task, Action, Result — the shape interviewers score against.

Quick Start

  1. Choose a mode

Select STAR Story or Elevator Pitch.

  2. Provide specific context

Describe the scenario or background, goal, and optional role or tone.

  3. Generate and refine

Review, copy, rehearse, or download the generated result as a PDF.

Examples

STAR source scenario

Include the obstacle, your responsibility, actions, and known result.

Input

A vendor delay threatened launch. I coordinated engineering and procurement, created a daily risk tracker, and recovered six days without changing scope.

Output

A four-part STAR draft plus delivery tips, based only on the supplied facts.

Pitch brief

State your background and the conversation you want to start.

Input

Background: Six years in fintech growth; increased organic sign-ups 40%.
Goal: Network for a Head of Growth role.

Output

Separate 30-, 60-, and 90-second pitch drafts.

About the STAR & Elevator Pitch

The two modes solve related communication problems. STAR Story organizes a real experience into Situation, Task, Action, and Result for behavioral interviews. Elevator Pitch produces three length variants for introductions, networking, and interview openings.

Both are AI-assisted drafting tools. They work best when the input includes real constraints, personal actions, and verified outcomes. If the scenario contains no measurable result, the generated draft must not be allowed to invent one.

How to Use STAR & Elevator Pitch

  1. Choose STAR Story or Elevator Pitch.

  2. For STAR, describe a real scenario in at least 20 characters and optionally add the target role.

  3. For a pitch, provide at least 20 characters of background, a goal, and one of seven tones.

  4. Generate the result through the AI endpoint.

  5. Check every claim, edit mentally or after copying, rehearse aloud, and optionally download the PDF.

Key Features

  • STAR structure

Returns Situation, Task, Action, Result, and delivery tips.

  • Three pitch lengths

    Produces approximately 30-, 60-, and 90-second versions.

  • Role and tone context

STAR accepts an optional target role; pitches offer seven tones.

  • Copy and PDF

Copy individual outputs or download a sectioned PDF.

When to Use STAR & Elevator Pitch

  • Behavioral interview

Turn an unstructured experience into a sequence that is easier to deliver.

  • Networking introduction

Prepare a short version that states background and current goal.

  • Interview opening

Use a longer pitch as a draft for “Tell me about yourself.”

How It Works

STAR input is sent to the /star endpoint, which returns five structured fields. Pitch input is sent to /elevator-pitch, which returns pitch_30, pitch_60, and pitch_90. The page formats these results for copying and sends section data to the PDF endpoint when requested.

Supported Formats and Options

Common Errors and Troubleshooting

Common errors

  • Scenario or background too short

The AI endpoints require at least 20 characters.

  • Pitch goal missing

A pitch goal of at least two characters is required.

  • Unsupported claims

Generated results may add implications not established by the input.

  • Generation limit reached

Each run uses the rate-limited AI service.

Troubleshooting guide

The STAR answer feels vague

Clarify what you personally owned, what changed because of your actions, and which result is verified.

The pitch sounds written rather than spoken

Copy the shortest version, shorten long sentences, and rehearse until it sounds natural.

Limitations and Important Notes

  • AI output may infer or overstate details.
  • Stated pitch durations are approximate and depend on speaking speed.
  • The tool does not record audio or measure delivery time.
  • Generated structure cannot replace truthful personal reflection.

Privacy and Data Processing

Scenario, role, background, goal, and tone are sent to server-side AI services when generation is requested. PDF export sends generated section text to the server-side PDF endpoint.

Tips and Best Practices

Practical tips

  • Use first-person actions rather than describing only the team.

  • Do not add metrics unless you can support them.

  • Rehearse the pitch aloud at a comfortable pace.

  • Prepare several STAR stories covering different competencies.

Best practices

Build a story bank

Keep separate examples for leadership, conflict, failure, prioritization, and measurable improvement.

Adapt rather than memorize

Learn the key facts and sequence, then answer naturally instead of reciting generated wording.

Technical Details

STAR scenarios accept 20–10,000 characters and optional role text up to 120. Pitch background accepts 20–10,000 characters, goal 2–500, and tone up to 60. Both return structured JSON through rate-limited AI endpoints.

Who Is This For?

Candidates preparing behavioral interviews, professionals introducing themselves at events, students practicing career-fair conversations, and career coaches developing example structures.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the STAR mode invent metrics?

It may produce inaccurate implications, so verify every result and remove any metric not present in your real experience.

Are the pitch lengths exact?

No. They are approximate drafts; actual duration depends on editing and speaking speed.

Can I copy individual pitches?

Yes. Each generated pitch has a copy control.

Can I download the results?

Yes. STAR stories and elevator-pitch sets can be downloaded as sectioned PDFs.

Is my input processed locally?

No. Generation sends the relevant text to server-side AI endpoints.
